blog#2

I was looking for the definition of the two terms Utopia and Dystopia and this is what I found.
“Utopia is an ideal community or society possessing a desirable socio-politico-legal system. The word was coined in Greek by Sir Thomas More for his 1516 book Utopia, describing a fictional island in the Atlantic Ocean.  The term has been used to describe both intentional communities that attempt to create an ideal society, and fictional societies portrayed in literature.  It has spawned other concepts, most prominently dystopia.”

“A dystopia is the idea of a society, generally of a speculative future, characterized by negative, anti-utopian elements, varying from environmental to political and social issues.    Dystopian societies, usually hypothesized by writers of fiction, have culminated in a broad series of sub-genres and is often used to raise issues regarding society, environment, politics, religion, psychology, spirituality, or technology that may become present in the future.  For this reason, Dystopias have taken the form of a multitude of speculations, such as Pollution; Poverty; Societal collapse or Political repression and Totalitarianism.”

Well according to the information that I found utopia is a term use to describe a place where everything is perfect in all the aspects of the word, as I see it is some type of heaven a place where everything is just right no political or economic problems or no problems at all.  I see a Utopia as the community or society that most of the people are looking forward to, but as we know we are not there yet.

Dystopia is the appositive of Utopia; it’s full of mistakes and negativity.  The fields of economy, political and others are not even near to perfect.  Dystopia from my point of view is what best compare with our community or society in the real world, I compare Dystopia and the real world because let face it things are not perfect or at less where I am, and this is why we are thinking critical to reach the utopia of our dreams.
